In 2025, Acting Out for Good started ACTING OUT NEXT GEN. This mentorship program is designed to provide youths from 7th to 12th grades the chance to participate as members of the creative team for an Acting Out production in an area of their interest, including:
· Direction
· Choreography
· Music Direction
· Costuming, Makeup, and Props
· Stage Management
· Lighting and Sound
· Set construction
In addition, members of the NEXT GEN crew will receive instruction in aspects of production including financials, scheduling, and stagecraft. You can truly be a positive force in doing good in our community one performance at a time!
What are the requirements for being part of the NEXT GEN crew?
· There is no cost to apply for membership or to remain a member.
· Email actingoutforgood@gmail.comto receive an application form. We ask for TWO letters of recommendation from adults, one who is involved in the arts (does not have to be performing arts), and another who knows you outside of artistic pursuits. They cannot be from family members or members of the current Acting Out creative teams. These letters should address your general character, work ethic, and interest in the arts, among any other topics you or they feel should be highlighted.
· Acceptance into the crew is for a one-season period and may be renewed at the end of the season should you choose to continue on the crew, and if the Acting Out creative team agrees that you have represented the group well. All accepted members and an adult responsible for them will sign a contract indicating that you subscribe to the ideals that Acting Out for Good represents and will conduct yourself accordingly in the community and online. Membership may be revoked if the adult members of the creative team receive credible evidence that this contract has been breached.
· As a member of the NEXT GEN crew for a given production, you will not be cast as an on-stage performer, to avoid appearances of favoritism, and so you can concentrate on your creative team responsibilities. However, your membership in NEXT GEN is flexible, so if you wish to be cast in future shows, you may step back from the crew at the end of the season and re-apply at a later time, if you’d like.
· Crew members are expected to attend all scheduled meetings (in-person or virtual) and complete any assignments by the next meeting. If a member is unable to attend a given meeting, they are still expected to complete assignments and contact the assigning creative team member for guidance, if needed. Assignments may be in any area of production, not necessarily the member’s main area of interest, so that everyone receives a thorough grounding in multiple aspects of production.
· Anyone who completes at least one season of NEXT GEN membership and has not had their membership revoked at any point may ask for letters of recommendation for colleges, employment, etc., from the adult creative team member(s) of their choice.
Applications and reference letters for the 2026 season are due by February 28, 2026.
We are excited to work with the best and brightest talents among the youth of our area and help them learn how to be leaders in the arts and in their community. If you have any other questions or would like an application, please write to actingoutforgood@gmail.com.
Meet our 2025 NEXT GEN members below!
ANNA HAMPTON
Hi, I’m Anna and I’m so excited to be part of the NEXT GEN team for Acting Out for Good! I’m 13 years old and I’m a 7th grader at Braddock Middle School. At Braddock I participate in many things like orchestra, student council, and CHIP (Chinese Immersion Program). You’ve probably seen me in other shows such as Lion King Jr. (Elephant/Drummer), Anne of Green Gables (Jane Andrews), and my most recent show Fame Jr. (Serena Katz). I also did spotlight for Seussical (Acting Out for Good) and backstage crew for The Little Mermaid (Cumberland Theatre). In my free time I like to play sports, listen to music, sing, and hang out with my friends! My favorite music artist is Chappell Roan and my favorite musical is Heathers. I can’t wait to work with the Acting Out for Good team!

PEYTON LEWIS
Peyton is a freshman at Mountain Ridge High School. Aside from musical theatre, she takes part in band and choir at school and loves writing poetry and music and reading. Peyton has been in shows such as Seussical as Mayzie, Addams Family as Morticia, James and the Giant Peach as Spiker, Little Mermaid as Jetsam, as well as many others.

JORDYN LYNCH
Hi, I'm Jordyn, an eighth-grade student at Mt. Savage Middle School. I've been doing musicals since I was in the sixth grade. I have been in shows such as "Addams Family, Jr.", "Shrek, Jr.", and Into the Woods, Jr, and I am currently preparing for the production of "Dare to Dream, Jr." at Mt. Savage. My favorite musicals are "Newsies" and "Hamilton". I play cello in the school orchestra and enjoy meeting new people. I have played sixth chair cello, for which I had to audition. I have three cats and two guinea pigs. I've done hip-hop, jazz, and tap. I love baking shows on Netflix, and next year, I plan to try out for the tennis team at Mt. Ridge. I hope everyone enjoys the show!
